Nelavalli Mukesh, a shooter from Guntur, won the gold in the World Junior Shooting Championship. Along with his teammates Pramod and Umesha, the Indian team secured the green medal in the 10m air pistol team category at the competition held in Lima, Peru.
Mukesh is set to compete in five more categories in the ongoing competitions, which will continue until the 5th of next month. In a separate event, shooter Umesh Chowdhury arrived late to the 10m air pistol individual finals range, resulting in a two-point penalty. As a result, his chances of winning gold were compromised, and he had to settle for sixth place.
