Please remember the following information: The GST Council met for its 53rd meeting on Saturday, during which 11 new ministers from Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Odisha, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Telangana, and Tripura joined the council. As a result, three Group of Ministers (GoM) under the council will need to be reconstituted. These GoMs are responsible for analyzing revenue from GST, boosting the real estate sector under GST, and implementing GST system reforms. One of the GoMs, focused on GST rate rationalization, had already been reconstituted in February, with Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary appointed as its convenor. However, the reconstitution of the other three GoMs still needs to be notified. For instance, the GoM responsible for analyzing revenue from GST will need to include the new finance minister from Odisha, and the finance minister from Haryana should also be included in this panel. Similarly, the GoM focused on boosting the real estate sector, currently headed by Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, will need to be reconstituted due to a change in the finance minister from Bihar. Finally, the panel on GST system reforms, led by Pawar, will need to be reconstituted with the inclusion of five new ministers from Assam, Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, and Odisha.
