Govt may issue notices to Jagan over public expenditure at camp office

The Andhra Pradesh government is reportedly contemplating issuing notices to former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy regarding the substantial public funds spent on his camp office’s needs during his tenure. The controversy revolves around the extensive works undertaken at the camp office with significant public money, which have now come under scrutiny.
The current State government led by Nara Chandrababu Naidu has reportedly received complaints about a double-lane road constructed at Jagan’s camp office under the Tadepalli Municipality in Guntur District, where he is currently residing. TDP sources allege that only a 1.5 km stretch of road was built specifically for the CM’s camp office using funds originally sanctioned for constructing a road from Prakasam Barrage to Revendrapadu. This road has reportedly been turned into a private thoroughfare by Jagan’s security personnel, barring public access due to security concerns. It is claimed that Rs. 5 crore was spent on this 1.5 km road alone.
The TDP leaders further allege that Jagan Mohan Reddy is using the camp office to conduct political programmes after losing power. They point out at the extensive works carried out at the camp office, including purchasing furniture and other expenditures, all funded by the government treasury. With Jagan no longer in office, the TDP questions the appropriateness of using this government-funded furniture.
The TDP is discussing the possibility of converting the former CM’s camp office into the YSR Congress party office. There are indications that the government has verbally instructed the officials to investigate the expenditure incurred by the Jagan administration on the camp office. Reports suggest that crores of rupees were spent on various enhancements, including iron fencing around the security wall, solar fencing, transformers, and UPS, which alone cost Rs. 3.63 crore.
This situation brings to mind Jagan’s earlier decision to demolish the “Praja Vedika” at Chandrababu Naidu’s residence, citing rule violations. Now, the TDP criticises Jagan for potentially violating rules by using government furniture after losing power. If investigations reveal any breaches of regulations regarding the funds spent on the camp office, the Chandrababu government plans to issue a notice to Jagan Mohan Reddy.
