Ganesh Chaturthi: A huge laddoo for Lambodar

Ganesh Chaturthi: During the Ganpati Navratri celebrations, a sweet shop owner in Kolkata made a 500 kg laddoo from pure ghee and dry fruits. The shop owner, Priyanka Malik, plans to make a new laddoo every year on Ganesha Chaturthi. The tradition of making a huge laddoo on Vinayaka Chavithi has been followed for about 140 years by Priyanka’s ancestors who have been running the shop.

A small laddoo with a Ganesha idol on top was placed on the huge laddoo, and the video of this went viral on social media. Additionally, competitions to eat huge laddoos are organized in Gujarat on Vinayaka Chavithi. In Mumbai, the Lalbaghcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal organized a Ganasathudhu on Vinayaka Chavithi, where devotees presented Rs. 50 lakhs in cash donations.

Celebrities from various fields also visit Mumbai to see the Ganesha idol, and about 1.5 million people visit Lalbaghcha Raja Sarvajanik Ganesh Utsav Mandal every day. Similar huge idols of Ganesha were installed in different parts of the country as part of the Ganpati Navratri celebrations, which will end on 16th September.
