Taiwanese electronics giant Foxconn Chairman Young Liu is planning to visit India later this year. Liu was honored with the Padma Bhushan Award by India Taipei Association Director General Manharsinh Yadav in Taipei on July 4. He received the Padma Bhushan, the third highest civilian award in India, on the eve of the 75th Republic Day this year. In a statement, Liu expressed his gratitude for the award and mentioned that he is privileged to accept it on behalf of all the employees who contribute to growing the local economies in India. He also mentioned that he is looking forward to meeting the President of India during his visit.
Liu’s last visit to India was in July last year, when he attended the Semicon India conclave and met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Foxconn’s total investment in India is estimated to be around USD 9-10 billion. The company is also in the process of expanding its iPhone production facility, establishing a chip plant in a joint venture with HCL Group, setting up an electric vehicle manufacturing unit, and manufacturing Apple Airpods.
