Former Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy was detained by the police as he attempted to take a vow at the Tirumala temple amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the Tirupati laddu prasadam. After performing a holy bath in the Pushkarini, Reddy made his way to Akhilanda to take a personal oath, but was stopped by the police.
As he began the vow, holding a harathi in his hand, the police intervened, preventing him from completing the act. Videos captured the moment when Reddy was heard telling the officers that he was not engaging in any political activities and was merely taking a vow. The arrest sparked a reaction from people around him, who began chanting “Govinda, Govinda,” expressing their support for the former TTD chairman.
Reddy’s detainment comes at a sensitive time, as the controversy over the alleged use of adulterated ghee in the preparation of the Tirupati laddu prasadam has sparked widespread debate, with political and religious implications surrounding the issue.
