Former Macharla MLA Pinnelli Ramakrishna Reddy was taken to the Nellore Central Jail by the police on charges related to election misconduct. The police produced Reddy before the Macharla Junior Civil Judge, where bail was granted in two cases. However, a 14-day remand was issued for two other cases. The charges against Pinnelli include destruction of EVMs and intimidation of voters during the recent elections. He was arrested on Wednesday in Narasaraopet, where he was implicated in cases of EVM destruction, attacking a circle inspector of police and assault on TDP agents. Pinnelli’s pleas for anticipatory bail were rejected by the High Court on Wednesday. Following this, the police apprehended him at 3:47 pm and took him to the Narasaraopet SP office. SP Mallikagarg confirmed the arrest at around 7 pm. Subsequently, Pinnelli was moved to the government hospital in Narasaraopet for a medical examination before being returned to the SP office. As the charges were filed in the Macherla constituency, the police decided to present him in the Macherla court. Around 10 pm, Pinnelli was taken from the SP office to be produced in court. On polling day and thereafter, a total of 14 cases were registered against him, including three for attempted murder. The police shifted Pinnelli to Nellore central jail with heavy security
