Chennaiyin FC signed Brazilian defender Elson Jose Dias Junior, also known as Elsinho, to a two-year deal, keeping him with the club until 2026. This makes Elsinho the second signing of the 2024-25 season for the Marina Machans, following the acquisition of midfielder Jitendra Singh earlier in the week. Elsinho is a versatile player who can fit in at central midfield and centre back, offering options at the back and a goal threat in the opposition box. Chennaiyin head coach Owen Coyle commented, “Elsinho is a versatile, strong, and technical footballer who will be a great addition to our foreign contingent.” Known for his adaptability, Elsinho has showcased his ability to contribute in defense as well as midfield, providing tactical flexibility to the club. He played 25 matches for Jamshedpur FC last season. Elsinho expressed his happiness about joining Chennaiyin, saying, “The coach showed an interest in my work, and I was very happy to be a part of a championship that attracted attention.” Elsinho began his professional journey in 2014 with Clube Esportivo Naviraiense and has played 214 matches so far in his career, scoring 15 goals and providing two assists. He spent a significant part of his career at the Mexican club FC Juarez, making 136 appearances for them from 2017 to 2019.
