Chandrababu likely to decide in politburo on Thursday

The Capital News
Telugu Desam Party (TDP) chief and Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu is set to hold a key politburo meeting on August 8 which is expected to address the eagerly awaited issue of nominated posts. The party cadre, buoyed by the TDP’s return to power after a five-year hiatus, are anticipating favorable news.

The nominated posts include positions in various corporations and urban development authorities, among others. Given the coalition nature of the government, with Jana Sena and BJP as allies, there is likely to be some indirect pressure on the government from these partners. Senior leaders will discuss the allocation of these nominated posts, as well as other crucial party organizational affairs such as membership registration.

A decision will also be made on the candidate for the Visakhapatnam MLC election. Sources within the party suggest that Naidu has already devised a formula for the distribution of these posts: 60 per cent to TDP, 30 per cent to Jana Sena, and 10 per cent to BJP. This formula aims to ensure smooth coordination among the coalition partners.

The Chief Minister is expected to discuss this allocation with Jana Sena President and Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders after the party’s internal decisions. In fact, the government began an exercise to gather detailed information on nominated posts from the mandal level in July,.

This data includes the current holders of these posts, their tenure, and the number of vacancies. The General Administration Department (GAD) Services secretary issued orders to this effect, emphasizing the need for a thorough and coordinated approach to filling these positions.

Chandrababu Naidu’s commitment to prioritizing the party cadre is evident. Unlike previous terms, he has been actively engaging with party workers and addressing public requests through the party offices. This move, despite facing some criticism, highlights the Chief Minister’s dedication to involving the party cadre in governance.

The politburo meeting on August 8 is expected to provide much-needed clarity and direction on the distribution of nominated posts, setting the stage for the TDP’s strategic initiatives and reinforcing the party’s organizational structure as it gears up for the future.
