Delhi’s Finance Minister Atishi Seeks Rs 10,000 Crore for Infrastructure Amidst Central Fund Shortfall

Delhi’s Finance Minister, Atishi, has requested Rs 10,000 crore from the Centre for infrastructure development. She claimed that despite Delhi’s income tax contribution of Rs 2 lakh crore and providing Rs 25,000 crore as central GST to the pool of taxes in the past year, the city government received nothing in return. Atishi emphasized that this money could be utilized for improving road, transport, power sectors as well as beautifying the city. She also mentioned that since 2001, the Centre had only been paying Rs 325 crore to the Delhi government from the central pool of taxes, but even this payment was stopped last year, leaving the city with no financial support from the Centre.
