Vijayawada: June 19: The government of Andhra Pradesh has appointed Dammalapati Srinivas as the advocate general (AG) of the State. The appointment order was issued on Wednesday by Satya Prabhakar Rao, Secretary of the Law Department, and will take effect from the date of assumption of responsibility.
The chief minister’s office proposed Dammalapati Srinivas’s name for the position, sending a note file to chief secretary Nirabh Kumar Prasad. Following the chief secretary’s proposals, Governor Abdul Nazir approved the appointment, leading to the official orders for Srinivas’s appointment as AG.
Dammalapati Srinivas previously served as Additional Advocate General (AAG) from June 30, 2014, to May 2016 during the previous TDP government. He was then appointed as AG on May 28, 2016, succeeding senior advocate P Venugopal, who resigned from the post. Srinivas continued in this role until the YSR Congress government took office in 2019. He played a crucial role in the legal proceedings related to Chandrababu Naidu’s arrest and imprisonment, handling cases in the ACB Court, High Court, and Supreme Court.
