Congress Retains Lone Lok Sabha Seat in Puducherry: Vaithilingam Defeats BJP’s Namassivayam by 1.36 Lakh Votes

The Congress retained the only Lok Sabha seat in Puducherry, with its current MP Vaithilingam declared the winner after the vote count on Tuesday. Vaithilingam secured victory by defeating BJP candidate and Puducherry Home Minister A Namassivayam by a margin of 1,36,516 (1.36 lakh) votes. The Congress candidate received 4,26,005 (4.26 lakh) votes, while Namassivayam secured 2,89,489 (2.89 lakh) votes. The Returning Officer A Kulothungan declared the result and presented Vaithilingam with his election certificate.
