Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has issued a stern warning to ministers and officials, emphasizing that no one will be spared if they fail to perform their duties during the ongoing flood disaster. During his visit to the flood-affected areas, Chandrababu Naidu made it clear that even ministers would face consequences if disaster management efforts are not up to par. The Chief Minister revealed that an officer in Jakkampudi has already been suspended for negligence. He also noted complaints about officials in VR who allegedly did not fulfill their responsibilities during the disaster, and he confirmed that an investigation is underway.
Chandrababu Naidu questioned whether the delegation of responsibilities to controversial officials in challenging situations was a deliberate oversight or an unintentional mistake. He expressed disappointment that some officials lacked the humanity to perform their duties regardless of the circumstances. Addressing complaints about non-functioning toll-free numbers, the Chief Minister acknowledged the issue and expressed frustration over the government’s system being paralyzed for five years. He assured that the problem would be resolved by setting up a new control room system immediately. Additionally, he announced an investigation into how two boats collided with the Prakasam Barrage, raising concerns about possible sabotage.
The Chief Minister criticized former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy for making unfounded accusations that he had diverted water to the Budameru rivulet to protect his own property. Chandrababu Naidu strongly refuted these claims, asserting his full responsibility for the State, unlike his predecessor. He also hinted at suspicions regarding the collision of the boats, linking it to past incidents involving political violence.
During a teleconference with duty officers, Chandrababu Naidu inquired about the food distribution efforts. Officials reported that food and water were being delivered to affected areas using helicopters, boats, and tractors, with 5 lakh packets prepared and distributed. The Chief Minister ordered that food be distributed to 100 percent of those in need and emphasized the importance of providing three meals a day to inaccessible areas using helicopters and drones. He further mandated that officials in 36 divisions be held accountable for food distribution efforts
