CM Chandrababu orders urgent repairs of roads

Chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu conducted a comprehensive review of the road conditions across the State, expressing dissatisfaction with the neglect of roads during the previous administration. Terming the experience of motorists and citizens as troublesome over the past five years, he emphasized the immediate need for corrective action.

During a detailed session at the Secretariat with officials from the Roads and Buildings (R&B) Department, the CM was briefed on the extensive challenges faced, including unpaid bills to contractors leading to a reluctance in taking up repair projects. Officials highlighted that 4,151 kilometers of roads are plagued with potholes, with an urgent requirement to repair 2,936 kilometers immediately.

The overall area needing attention totals to 7,087 kilometers, necessitating a minimum of Rs. 300 crore for effective rehabilitation. In response, CM Naidu directed officials to prioritize the repair of critically damaged roads, swiftly initiating tender processes to commence urgent repair works without delay.

Further discussions in the review involved consultations with experts from Tirupati IIT, SRM Universities, and industry professionals, focusing on advanced road construction technologies for enhanced durability and cost-effectiveness.
