Due to unexpected heavy rains, the water level in Budameru has risen again, causing flooding. As a result, authorities have taken urgent action to address the situation. Budameru has been affected at three locations in Kondapally Shantinagar. After receiving 200 meters of rain, Kavuluru, Eelaprolu Rayanapadu, and Budameru overflowed into Singinagar. As the floodwaters recede, irrigation officials are working to fill the breaches. Farmers attribute the soil collapse to illegal soil mining during the previous government’s tenure and urge officials to remain vigilant.
In response, Chief Minister Chandrababu has instructed Minister Lokesh to oversee the efforts to fill the breaches in Budameru. Minister Lokesh has gathered information about the breaches on both sides of Budameru and held discussions with the authorities to expedite the filling process. Lokesh has personally gone to Budameru to supervise the excavation works. Relief operations in Vijayawada are ongoing under Lokesh’s supervision.
Today, 1200 TDP workers provided meals and milk to flood-affected individuals. Relief efforts, led by ministers and MLAs, are underway in 36 affected wards. MLA Vasantha Venkata Krishnaprasad of Mylavaram has urged people to remain vigilant as a further increase in floodwater is expected due to heavy rains in Mylavaram and upper Khammam area.
The embankment of the pond at Shantinagar Errabudji in Kondapalli has also been breached, and immediate action to fill the ponds has been requested. Residents in the Budameru catchment area are advised to stay alert. Vasantha Krishna Prasad is personally involved in sending food to flood victims in Jakkampudi Colony and has urged people to contact him in case of emergencies.
