Vijayawada: May 29: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu announced plans to convene a crucial meeting with the chief election agents of all 175 assembly and 25 parliamentary constituencies on May 31.
This decision follows his return from a visit to the United States, after which he held a teleconference with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders to discuss several important issues. During the teleconference, Chandrababu emphasised the need for heightened vigilance regarding postal ballots, expressing concerns over potential manipulations by the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). He urged the party leaders to be prepared and to train counting agents at the zonal level on May 1.
Chandrababu directed immediate arrangements for these training sessions and the upcoming meetings. Highlighting the YSRCP criticism of the Election Commission and the police, Chandrababu suggested that these actions stem from the ruling party’s anticipation of defeat. To counter this, he proposed writing letters to the Election Commission and the Director General of Police (DGP) to ensure comprehensive arrangements are made for the counting day.
The TDP has also demanded the appointment of an observer for each assembly constituency, objecting to the current allocation of only 120 observers for 175 constituencies.
Chandrababu plans to request the Election Commission to appoint special observers for all constituencies promptly. Chandrababu will be traveling to Vijayawada tomorrow evening to oversee these preparations and ensure the TDP is fully equipped to handle the upcoming votes counting processes.
