Amaravati: Former Chief Minister and TDP national president Nara Chandrababu Naidu started his career almost 46 years ago with a good start as an MLA at the age of 28 but still he remains hope for the economic development of Andhra Pradesh. He will be celebrating his diamond jubilee when he enters his 75th year on Saturday (April 20).
Several States and Countries are witnessing new developments with the involvement of new leaders but still Chandrababu Naidu is one and only solution for AP development. Though new leaders are emerging in various states in the country while the development is also being done by new leadership still the future development of Andhra Pradesh is on the shoulders of Chandrababu Naidu only.
Ironically the State is defamed especially in the development sector while doubts are raised on the future for the last five years. Chandrababu Naidu has remained a hope for future generations. He created the new city Cyberabad in Hyderabad by laying the foundation for unprecedented development and wealth creation.
As a result, Hyderabad created a new history as a model in the entire country. Surprisingly Hyderabad got global exposure as the world’s second fastest-growing city during Chandrababu’s tenure in a competition with China’s Shangai City. Especially he successfully launched the IT industry, Outer Ring Road (ORR), the Internationational Airport, the International Business School, Flyovers, Genom valley (where theG vaccine was invented), other infra and ecosystems and engineering colleges across the State to create abundant wealth and lakhs of jobs.
As a result, the youth of the State shifted their passion towards education. Since then the young graduates of the State started going to various countries on a large scale while their families witnessed huge economic growth. It is the reason, lakhs of techies staged protests across the globe when he was arrested.
Indeed, he has been very much interested in economics since his college days. He completed his post-graduation in economics from Sri Venkateswara University in 1974 and started his Ph.D on the Economic Ideas of Dr N G Ranga. He did not complete his Ph.D due to his main interest in politics. But he continued his focus on the economic growth of the public throughout his political life. Still, he always says wealth creation and a society sans poverty are his aims. At the age of 75 also he still works almost 17 hours in daily life. He strictly follows a diet plan, yoga, and hard work every day with discipline.
Interestingly he could not complete his doctorate but several postgraduates did Ph.Ds on his personal life especially economic policies and development model plans. He proved to be a brand ambassador for development by implementing his complete vision in Hyderabad and now Andhra Pradesh is waiting for such kind of model development amidst the worst conditions.
The State began its new journey with plenty of challenges after the state bifurcation in 2014 but the then Chief Minister Naidu created a path by finalising plans to compete with the international-level model capital city. He showed the new model to the country and sets a record by collecting 33,000 acres of land from farmers under an innovative land pooling system unprecedented in the country for capital construction. The State of Andhra Pradesh was separated from Telangana with Rs 1 lakh crore debts and no capital for the state. But he created 10,000 acres of land share for Andhra Pradesh government as part of land pooling which equals almost Rs 1 lakh crore to Rs 10 lakh crore based on the future developments.
During the five years up to 2019, the state stood at the top position in growth parameters. Especially Andhra stood in first place in the investment sector beating the Telangana state though the latter has established its investment hub in Hyderabad.
After TDP lost power all the development plans were stopped and several international companies withdrew their business expansion plans in Andhra Pradesh. When Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu was in power, KIA Motors started its manufacturing unit in Anantapur. Now the district has got recognition as a car manufacturing industrial hub.
Similarly, IT giant HCL and automobile company Ashok Leyland started their units in Krishna district following the request of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu. Later they cancelled their business establishment plans.
Likewise, several entrepreneurs and national and international level companies canceled their plans. Adani, Lulu in Vizag, Asian Paper industry in Prakasam district shifted their establishments to other states. The present government focussed on the distribution of welfare schemes instead of on the previous development and industrial business plans.
As a result, the state’s development is caught in whirlwind. Usually, the investors prefer the states based on the government policies and leadership cooperation. Former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has a good track record and hoary history in Hyderabad development and investment attraction.
In 2014, the people of the state voted for the Telugu Desam believing N Chandrababu Naidu would develop the state in the Hyderabad model. Even though he made several plans and launched several companies but people did not extend their support in the 2019 elections due to various reasons including Goebbles campaign.
Presently, the state lost several development projects. Moreover, the future of youth, economic development, and debts of AP is a debatable topic in the entire Telugu-speaking community.
However, still he has a good reputation in the entire business and political circles across the country. He worked as NDA convenor in the previous BJP-led government in the Centre while gaining the appreciation of the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and Deputy Prime Minister Advani. Similarly, he supported the economic policies of the then Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao. Once former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also appreciated commenting that Chandrababu Naidu is an asset to the nation. Indeed, he took part in the selection of Prime Ministers and Presidents of India during his active role in national politics. He did not take up the Prime Minister’s position though he had an opportunity to lead the country. Presently he concentrated only on state development and he is only the hope for the development of the State.
