The Central government has allocated significant funds for road infrastructure development in the Telugu States of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Of the total allocation, Rs 498 crore have been earmarked for Andhra Pradesh, while Rs 516 crore have been sanctioned for Telangana. These funds are part of the Central Road Infrastructure Fund aimed at upgrading and expanding state road networks.
In Andhra Pradesh, the funds will support 13 State road projects spanning 200.06 km. Particularly, Rs 98 crore have been allocated for the construction of a four-lane road on the Guntur-Nallapadu railway line, a key infrastructure project aimed at improving traffic flow in the region.
In Telangana, the government has approved Rs 516 crore for the construction of a 14 km long, four-lane bypass between Nakirekal and Nagarjuna Sagar on National Highway 565. This bypass is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion in Nalgonda town while improving connectivity between Nakirekal and Nagarjuna Sagar. NH 565 is a crucial route that connects key towns in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, starting from Nalgonda and passing through Macherla, Erragondapalem, and Kanigiri, ultimately enhancing trade and transportation links between the two States.
Meanwhile, Central Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that funds have also been sanctioned for several projects in States including Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Goa.
In Maharashtra, Rs 809.77 crore have been allocated for the rehabilitation and upgradation of two lanes with paved shoulders on National Highway 63. This highway, connecting Udgir to Degalur and Adampur Phata to Sagroli Phata, links the districts of Latur and Nanded in Maharashtra with Nizamabad district in Telangana, promoting industrial and agri-business activities in the region and boosting local economies.
