YS Sharmila Criticizes Amit Shah's Comments
YS Sharmila Reddy, the chief of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC), made strong remarks regarding Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement that the five-year rule of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) was a disaster. Sharmila expressed her outrage, questioning what Amit Shah did over those five years if he believed there was destruction occurring.
She pointed out that it was the NDA government at the center during that time and asked if they simply watched while celebrations were happening in Delhi. Sharmila highlighted the cessation of work on the Polavaram project due to reverse tendering and criticized the center for not questioning former Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy even for a day.
She stated, "If the YSRCP ruled Andhra Pradesh without a capital for five years, wouldn't the central government have noticed?" She expressed her displeasure over the state's debt of Rs. 10 lakh crores, which she described as indicative of ongoing destruction. In her tirade against Amit Shah, Sharmila questioned his silence as Union Home Minister while he was advocating for justice in a murder case involving his own uncle.
She challenged him to reveal any information about massive corruption if it existed. During this occasion, YS Sharmila commented, "Jagan has been your adopted son for five years—a puppet who acts as if he is in control. He is merely a rubber stamp supporting your bills in Parliament and an agent plundering natural resources in AP for 'Modani.'
The innocent people of the state do not believe that you have treated YSRCP as your favored party for five years, looting the state's wealth, which has led to destruction." Sharmila further stated, "If Jagan is to blame for the destruction that occurred between 2019 and 2024, then the consequences fall on the BJP government as well.
You have deceived the people by failing to fulfill the promises made during the division process for ten years. Your claim of bringing back former glory is just another fraud. If you stand by your words and have the courage, you should immediately initiate an investigation by the central agencies into the last five years of YSRCP rule." The state Congress party has demanded action from Amit Shah on this matter. “We are taking this seriously,” Sharmila concluded.
