* Vote transfer depends on Delhi’s cooperation

Amaravati: Though the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) entered into an election alliance with the Telugu Desam and Jana Sena in Andhra Pradesh for the forthcoming general elections there are still doubts among the cadres of the parties on the transfer of vote sharing smoothly.

The BJP has good prospects nationwide but its candidates in Andhra Pradesh are dependent on the vote share of the TDP and Jana Sena. Several senior leaders like AP BJP president and former Union minister D Purandeswari, former Chief Minister N Kirankumar Reddy, former Union minister Y Sujana Chowdary, former state ministers C Adinarayana Reddy, Kamineni Srinivas, former Rajya Sabha member CM Ramesh, former IAS officer Vara Prasad, former MLA P Vishnu Kumar Raju and several prominent personalities are in the list of BJP. Their fate depends upon the cooperation of the TDP for vote transfer and neutral voters who like the state development instead of national-level leadership.

Though the Indian election system functions based on facts, ground reality and a set of guidelines, rules and regulations the mood of the public and TDP cadre is different.

They believe the cooperation of BJP’s national leadership would help the TDP to smoothly complete the election process. Already the TDP leadership lodged complaints against several IAS and IPS officers. The AP BJP leadership has also made the same complaints on this issue.

The TDP cadre believes that the role of non-controversial and sincere officers is important in the forthcoming elections. Especially the TDP cadre faced struggles and went through many problems during the last five years and it is an open secret to the public. The TDP cadre is also making complaints based on various incidents. Moreover, the TDP cadre believes in the past that the BJP national leadership supported the incumbent State government’s policies.

Against this backdrop, the vote transfer is possible after pacifying the TDP cadre giving them necessary support. Indeed, in the election process, all decisions are independent, and there is no role of any government as per the rules.

But if there is any favoritism in the state government’s functioning as per the complaints raised by TDP and BJP, those can be stalled by who is governing in the Centre, said TDP leader D Shankar Naidu. That government and its ruling party will have more chances to bring the issue to any election authority for justice, he opined.
