In Odisha, as per the Election Commission of India, the BJP was leading in 80 assembly seats, while the Biju Janata Dal nominees were leading in 50 constituencies out of the 147 assembly seats for which trends were available until 3:15 pm.
The Congress was ahead in 15 seats, CPI (M) in one, and there was one seat being led by an independent candidate. Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is leading in both Assembly seats—Hinjili and Kantabanji.
In contrast, at least eight ministers in Naveen Patnaik’s cabinet are trailing in the Odisha assembly election. These ministers include Forest and Environment Minister Pradip Kumar Amat, Works Minister Prafulla Kumar Mallik, Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, Transport Minister Tukuni Sahu, Science and Technology Minister Ashok Chandra Panda, Finance Minister Bikram Keshari Arukha, Handlooms & Textiles Minister Rita Sahu, and Women & Child Development Minister Basanti Hembram according to the ECI.
Additionally, CPI (M) candidate and sitting MLA Laxman Munda was leading in the Bonai assembly constituency. Other prominent BJD leaders who were trailing included Debi Prasad Mishra, Kallikesh Narayan Singh Deo, Susanta Singh, Ramesh Chandra Chyau Patnaik, Prafulla Samal, Snehangini Chhuria, Pushpendra Singh Deo, Ramesh Majhi, and Dibya Shankar Mishra.
