Bharti Airtel announces 10-21 pc hike in mobile tariffs from July 3

Bharti Airtel announced a 10-21 percent increase in mobile tariffs on Friday, following Reliance Jio’s similar announcement. The new tariffs will take effect from July 3. Airtel stated that the price increase, less than 70 paise per day on entry-level plans, is aimed at minimizing the impact on budget-constrained consumers. The company emphasized the need for the Average Revenue Per User (ARPU) to be over Rs 300 in order to support telecom businesses in India financially. Airtel also updated the rates for unlimited voice plans and daily data plans. This move by mobile operators comes after the recent 10th spectrum auction, which saw a subdued response from the industry.
