Vijayawada: June 13: The Vijayawada family court has issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for actor Prithviraj, known for his thirty years industry dialogue, after he failed to comply with court orders to pay monthly maintenance to his wife, Srilakshmi. The warrant follows Prithviraj’s continuous disregard for the court’s directives and his absence from court hearings.
Prithviraj married Srilakshmi from Vijayawada in 1984, and the couple has a son and a daughter.
Due to irreconcilable differences, the couple has been living separately, with Srilakshmi residing at her parental home along with their two children.
In 2017, Srilakshmi approached the court seeking legal maintenance of Rs 8 lakh per month from Prithviraj, citing his substantial earnings from films and television, which she claimed amounted to around Rs 30 lakhs per month. The court ruled in Srilakshmi’s favor, ordering Prithviraj to pay Rs 8 lakh monthly and cover the costs of her legal proceedings.
During the hearings, Srilakshmi reported to the court that Prithviraj had subjected her to harassment related to his film commitments, leading her to leave their marital home in April 2016 and return to her parents.
Despite the court’s clear instructions, Prithviraj has failed to make the mandated payments and has also avoided appearing before the court. Consequently, the court has now issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest to enforce compliance with its orders.
