The Cyber Economic and Narcotics Crime Police of Mangaluru police Commissionerate have arrested Soji Altaf of Ullal for allegedly making statements of “hate and violence” on certain social media groups. According to the police, Altaf, in a voice message, called for the killing of some gurus and leaders instead of innocents, and stated that it would help control the situation. This message has been circulated on social media to fuel discord between communities. A case has been registered at the Cyber Economic and Narcotics Crime (CEN) police station under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code.
