Amaravati: The people of Andhra Pradesh never lose the psychological bonding with Hyderabad even after ending the status of joint capital.

After the State bifurcation, the 68-year-old long capital bonding with Hyderabad city ended on June 2. The last 10-year period was the joint capital. Now Hyderabad is the sole capital of Telangana State as per the AP Reorganisation Act.

The people of Andhra Pradesh never lost the psychological bonding with Hyderabad city from their memories. The people started migrating to Hyderabad on a large scale in the 1970s. After the State bifurcation with the combined Madras State, Hyderabad became the combined capital of Andhra and Hyderabad States in 1956 as part of political developments including the merging of the two states.

After emergence of Hyderabad as the capital, the political leaders of Andhra and Rayalaseema leaders started visiting the capital city. Following the developments, the movie industry personalities like NTR, ANR, and many others shifted from Madras to Hyderabad and slowly established studios. During the 80s, most people in Hyderabad used to speak Urdu and Hindi only.

The people of the Andhra area used to visit Hyderabad in the name of a picnic or excursion. From elders to children used to exchange their Hyderabad visit experiences which were great in their lives. Salarjung Museum and Birla Temple are the most visited places for school children during their visits. The 200-year-old musical-doll clock and entire bird eye look from Birla temple are great memories to everyone.

The people of Andhra recollected their memories and used to share their experiences with their kith and kin after the Hyderabad visit. The people of Andhra depended on RTC red-colour buses and trains to reach Hyderabad city. On those days, the journey time to Hyderabad was 10 to 12 hours from Andhra cities like Vijayawada. On their return journey, people used to bring grapes, fruits and pearls, and clothes from Hyderabad.

After NTR became the Chief Minister in 1983, he introduced the Telugu language on buses and name boards in the city. The political leaders used to stay at Dwaraka Lodge, Annapurna, and Venkateswara lodges in Abids. Even the MLAs and their followers used to stay in the lodges during their visits. Hyderabad Irani chaai and paradise dum biryani are sweet memories forever.  Hitech City, Hussain Sagar-Budda statue, Charminaar, Assembly and Tank Bund turned out to be the most tourist spots in the city.
