2774 new ration shops -21 lakh new passbooks
New liquor policy -2047 long term development plan
The Andhra Pradesh Cabinet has decided to abolish the reverse tendering system that was introduced during the YSR Congress government. Ministers in the Cabinet labeled the system as an unnecessary policy, and under the current circumstances, it was deemed essential to discontinue it. The decision was made during a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday.
The meeting also saw discussions on several other important issues. The Cabinet gave its nod to the filling of 269 supernumerary posts within the State’s municipal department, reflecting the government’s commitment to strengthening local governance. Additionally, the Cabinet approved the establishment of 2,774 new ration shops under the Civil Supplies Department, a move aimed at enhancing the distribution network of essential commodities across Andhra Pradesh.
Another key issue on the agenda was the long-pending elections of the irrigation societies, which were last conducted in 2014. The Cabinet discussed the need to hold these elections to ensure better management and operation of irrigation resources. Proposals for introducing a new liquor policy in Andhra Pradesh were also presented, with the Cabinet considering measures to ensure the effective implementation of a free sand policy, aimed at regulating sand mining and distribution in the State.
In a decision affecting the farming community, the Cabinet resolved to distribute 21 lakh new passbooks to farmers, replacing the old ones that featured photographs of former Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. The Cabinet also deliberated on the removal of photographs from 77 lakh survey stones that were placed during the previous administration. Moreover, the Cabinet reviewed proposals for the establishment of 2,774 new ration shops and held extensive discussions on the formulation of Vision 2047, a long-term development plan for the State.
