HCL Technologies Ltd (HCLTECH) is set to undertake a significant expansion in Andhra Pradesh, promising to create thousands of new jobs. This announcement was made during a meeting between HCL’s Corporate vice president Siva Shankar, associate vice president Sivaprasad, and minister for HRD and IT Nara Lokesh at the minister’s Undavalli residence on Tuesday.
HCLTECH plans to provide employment for 5,500 individuals through this expansion.
The company, which had previously created 4,500 jobs, will embark on phase 2 of its expansion by constructing a new office building, with an aim to generate an additional 10,000 jobs. The expansion will include advanced technical services aligned with current international IT trends. Furthermore, HCLTECH has pledged to participate in the state government’s skill census and skill development initiatives, supporting the ambitious goal of creating 20 lakh jobs in Andhra Pradesh.
During the meeting, HCL representatives requested the release of permissions and concessions previously halted. Minister Lokesh promised to provide these in installments. Reflecting on his previous efforts to bring HCL to Gannavaram, he noted that while 4,500 jobs were created initially, progress stalled under the subsequent government. Lokesh committed to expediting the necessary permits and supporting the creation of an additional 15,500 jobs, emphasizing the state’s goal of generating 20 lakh jobs in five years.
