Andhra Pradesh director general of police (DGP) Dwaraka Tirumala Rao has highlighted a concerning trend in the State, reporting a rise in cyber crime despite an overall decline in regular crime rates. In a media briefing on Wednesday, DGP emphasized the need for cyber crime police stations in every district to tackle this growing threat. The DGP urged citizens to be cautious of unknown calls, assuring that immediate action would be taken if such calls are reported. He also pointed out the necessity of establishing dedicated police stations to address cases related to ganja.

Additionally, DGP announced that promotions for lower-level police personnel would be implemented soon. In response to issues with the state-of-the-art fingerprint lab installed in 2017, the DGP assured that efforts would be made to restore it to its optimal functioning State. He also mentioned that the police vehicles would be acquired on a loan basis, with the government agreeing to cover the EMIs.

Addressing concerns about sexual assaults, including those against women, the elderly, and children, DGP vowed that special measures would be introduced to curb these crimes. He also touched on the ongoing investigation into the case involving Mumbai model Kadambari Jethwani, stating that the process would be thorough and time-consuming due to national and state regulations. Regarding administrative matters, DGP noted that staff transfers and promotions would be managed based on the 13 districts of the state. The DGP reported a significant reduction in Maoist activities in the state, indicating a positive trend in maintaining law and order.
