Andhra Pradesh Assembly Speaker Ch Ayanna Patrudu expressed dissatisfaction with officials during the budget session on Monday, calling for a comprehensive investigation into Jagananna colonies. Highlighting discrepancies between official reports and ground realities, the Speaker warned of strict action against officials submitting false information, stating, “If one officer is punished, others will learn a lesson.”
Vigilance inquiry ordered Housing minister Kolusu Partha Sarathi assured the Assembly that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu has ordered a full-fledged probe into the irregularities in Jagananna colonies.
The vigilance department will continue its investigation, and the government is open to replacing contractors based on suggestions from members. MLA Ganababu raised concerns over the slow progress in housing construction, claiming severe hardships for beneficiaries. Proddutur MLA Varada Rajula Reddy accused contractors of embezzling crores of public funds and criticized the substandard construction, stating that houses collapse even during light rains. Both MLAs demanded immediate government intervention and accountability.
