Sharmila seeks ACB probe into Jagan-Adani solar power deal

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila Reddy on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB)

Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) chief YS Sharmila Reddy on Thursday lodged a complaint with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), demanding an investigation into alleged irregularities in the solar power deals between former Chief Minister YS Jaganmohan Reddy and Adani Group. Addressing the media, Sharmila alleged that corruption in the 2021 Adani solar deal involving Jaganmohan Reddy was exposed in the United States,

where a charge sheet citing a Rs 1750 crore bribe was filed. She emphasized that the case, backed by evidence, is now under trial in the US and questioned the lack of similar investigations by Indian authorities. Sharmila criticized the deal, claiming Jaganmohan Reddy purchased solar power at Rs 2.49 per unit despite it being available for Rs 1.99 in neighboring states.

"The costs of solar power have dropped significantly, yet a 25-year agreement was signed under dubious terms," she alleged, adding that the public is bearing the brunt of corruption. Sharmila urged Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu to direct the ACB to conduct an impartial investigation into the Adani solar deal. She called for transparency and accountability to ensure justice for the people of Andhra Pradesh.
