Parliamentary Standing Committee Inspects Polavaram

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee conducted an examination of the Polavaram project.

Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee conducted an examination of the Polavaram project. Parliamentary Standing Committee Chairman Rajiv Pratap Rudy visited the site, focusing on the reasons behind the damage to the Polavaram diaphragm wall. The committee also assessed the construction work of the upper and lower coffer dams, as well as the earth and rock fill dams.

Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu, MLA Chirri Balaraju, and other officials participated in the examination. During the previous TDP government, 72 percent of the Polavaram project was completed. However, it was reported that the YSRCP government has regressed the project by 20 years and caused damage to the diaphragm wall after 18 months of hard work.

The Chief Minister has ordered that the Polavaram project be completed by September 2027. Additionally, Minister Nimmala Ramanaidu stated that the displaced individuals have not received any compensation.
