The National Task Force's (NTF) recommendation against a Central law to address violence against doctors has left medical professionals disappointed, with many expressing concern over their continued vulnerability without additional legal protection, said Dr Ambati Naga Radhakrishna Yadav, chairman of YSRCP NTR district doctors wing,

Originally established by the Supreme Court after the tragic RG Kar Hospital rape and murder case in Calcutta, the NTF aimed to safeguard medical personnel. However, its current proposal has been criticized for failing to provide tangiblesolutions for the rising incidents of violence against doctors. Recent attacks on healthcare workers, such as the assault by an MLA at Rangaraya Medical College and the stabbing of an oncologist, highlight the urgent need for stronger legal measures, said Radha Krishna.

Critics argue that the NTF's recommendations offer no real relief and fail to instill confidence in those working in the medical field. Calls for a central law are growing, as many believe it would create a unified framework to protect doctors and ensure their safety. Radha Krihsna appealed that the government reconsider the NTF's stance and prioritize the well-being of those who risk their lives to save others.
