A decommissioned Indian Naval aircraft Tu–142, which has been turned into a museum, was inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh’s Kakinada on Friday. The Tu-142 museum is the third such museum after similar ones in Visakhapatnam and Kolkata.It was inaugurated by Kakinada Lok Sabha member Vanga Geetha Vishwanath.

“The iconic Indian Navy’s Aircraft Tu-142 has found a new home as a museum at Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh,” the Visakhapatnam-based Eastern Naval Command (ENC) said in a statement. N Sudeep, commodore (aviation), ENC, took the audience down memory lane as he recalled the remarkable 30-year journey of the naval aircraft.

“Stationed initially at INS Hansa, Goa, and later at INS Rajali, Arakkonam, the aircraft played a pivotal role as a long-range maritime reconnaissance anti-submarine warfare asset for the Indian Navy,” the press release added.
