IMD Issues Heatwave Alert for Telangana; Temperatures to Soar Up to 44°C
rise between 41°C and 44°C in at least five districts.
An orange alert has been issued for Adilabad, Jagitial, Komaram Bheem Asifabad, Mancherial, and Rajanna Sircilla, where temperatures are predicted to reach 41-44°C. The IMD warned of heatwave conditions in isolated pockets of these districts.
For the rest of the state, a yellow alert has been issued, with maximum temperatures likely to range between 36°C and 40°C.
Scorching Temperatures Across Telangana
On Sunday, 22 out of 33 districts in Telangana recorded temperatures above 40°C, with Asifabad in Komaram Bheem Asifabad district being the hottest at 42.4°C.
According to the Telangana Development Planning Society, the highest temperatures recorded in the state were:
- Neradigonda (Adilabad) – 41.5°C
- Mandamarri (Mancherial) – 41.5°C
- Veernapalle (Rajanna Sircilla) – 41.5°C
Weather Forecast & Outlook
- Dry weather is expected to prevail across Telangana until March 20.
- Mist/hazy conditions are likely in isolated pockets during morning hours over the next three days.
- No significant change in maximum temperatures is expected over the next two days, but a slight drop is likely afterward.
- Light to moderate rain or thundershowers may occur at isolated places in Telangana on March 21.

For Hyderabad and its surrounding areas, the IMD predicts:
- Partly cloudy skies for the next 24 hours.
- Morning mist/hazy conditions.
- Maximum temperature: Around 38°C
- Minimum temperature: Around 23°C
- Surface winds: Southeasterly at speeds of 4-6 kmph
Residents are advised to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to the sun, especially during peak afternoon hours.
