Six people lost their lives in a tragic stampede at the Vaikuntha Dwara darshan token counters in Tirupati last night. Following this incident, former TTD chairman and YSRCP leader Bhumana Karunakar Reddy criticized Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, alleging negligence and holding him responsible for the mishap. He claimed that the government had failed to ensure proper arrangements, thereby endangering public safety.
Bhumana further alleged that the failure of the police and TTD vigilance officials was a key factor in the stampede. “At the time of the incident, there were barely ten police personnel present at the scene,” he said. He also criticized the overall management of TTD, claiming that it had completely collapsed under the current administration. He accused TTD chairman B.R. Naidu of turning the institution into a political playground.
Demanding compensation, Bhumana urged the government to provide ₹1 crore to the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
Bhumana also took a jibe at Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, questioning his silence on the incident despite previous claims of protecting Sanatana Dharma. He criticized Pawan Kalyan for making false allegations against Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy and the YSRCP regarding Tirumala laddu-related issues. Bhumana accused Chandrababu Naidu of exploiting religious sentiments for political gain.
