APJAC appeals for timely pension benefits, arrears
The Andhra Pradesh Joint Action Committee (APJAC) Amaravati has made a strong appeal to the State government to ensure timely payment of pension benefits to retired employees, including arrears for Dearness Allowance (DA), Pay Revision Commission (PRC) arrears, gratuity, and earned leave.
The committee urges that these payments be made on the day the employee retires. In a statement issued by JAC State chairman Bopparaju Venkateswarlu, secretary general Palisetty Damodar Rao, AP State Government Retired Employees Association State president Shastry, and State general secretary I Lakshmin Narayana, the committee highlighted the grave situation where many senior pensioners are passing away without receiving the large amounts owed to them.
The pensioners, who have contributed decades of service to the government, are deeply concerned about the delay in payments. Bopparaju emphasized that the Supreme Court has clearly stated that pension is a legal right of employees, not a discretionary gift from the government.
He pointed out that paying pension to employees who have worked for 35 to 40 years should be viewed as a responsibility, not a burden. Furthermore, Bopparaju emphasized the need for improved medical facilities for retired employees.
He urged the government to enhance the Employee Health Cards (EHS) system, which would benefit a large proportion of elderly retired individuals by providing better healthcare options.
