In the early stages of 2024, the political journey of Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP has reached a significant milestone.
In the early stages of 2024, the political journey of Chandrababu Naidu and the TDP has reached a significant milestone.
When Y.S. Jagan, proclaimed that defeating Chandrababu in this election would leave TDP powerless for the next 30 years. At the time, TDP had no alliances, and several leaders faced criminal charges and arrests. In such a difficult situation, most parties would have lost momentum, but not TDP.
Even though Chandrababu was imprisoned, he led the party from behind bars with his signature strategic style. Meanwhile, Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena also provided crucial support, injecting life into TDP. As elections neared, TDP’s fortunes changed with the backing of NRIs, media and public. Together, they mobilized to make Chandrababu the Chief Minister again.
The first half of 2024 has been a milestone for both the party and Chandrababu. His relationship with the central government has strengthened this year, and his influence on the BJP has grown, particularly after BJP failed to secure a majority. As a trusted ally to the BJP, Chandrababu has rekindled his influence on the national stage, reminiscent of his stature in the 1990s.
On the party front, TDP made a historic achievement by winning 134 seats, setting a new record. As Chief Minister since June 12, 2024, Chandrababu has focused on governance and strengthening his relationship with the public. He has actively worked on issues like pension hikes, LPG subsidies, and Amaravati’s capital development, while also challenging the ineffective policies of the ruling YSR Congress.
Through actions like releasing white papers on governance and exposing YSR Congress’s failures, Chandrababu has shown his leadership, making 2024 a defining year for both himself and his party. His success in securing power in the first half of the year is complemented by his vision and leadership in the latter half, solidifying this year as a milestone in his political career.
