Amaravati buses to be restored, electric fleet on horizon: AP transport minister

The Capital News

Transport Minister Mandipalli Ram Prasad Reddy has announced the restoration of the Amaravati brand buses and the introduction of electric buses in collaboration with various companies. Addressing the media on Tuesday, he emphasized that the former chief minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s attempts to remove the Amaravati brand, initially introduced by chief minister Chandrababu Naidu for RTC buses, were unsuccessful.

Minister Ram Prasad Reddy made it clear that the Amaravati brand buses, which he claims were disabled by Jagan’s personal vendetta, will be reinstated. He highlighted Chandrababu Naidu’s vision of promoting eco-friendly transportation, stating, “CM Chandrababu’s idea is to promote vehicles in favor of environmental protection.

Soon, electric buses will be operational from RTC.” Criticizing the previous administration, the minister pointed out that the YSRCP government, led by former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, had significantly weakened the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) over the past five years by neglecting the purchase of new buses, thus endangering public safety.

He noted that within a few months of the coalition government coming to power, 200 new buses had already been introduced, with an additional 1,200 buses expected to be on the roads in the next three months.

Minister Reddy also expressed his displeasure with the previous administration’s actions, accusing Jagan of damaging the Amaravati brand by promoting the Dolphin Cruise buses. He assured that the new government is committed to restoring the Amaravati brand and enhancing the public transportation system for the benefit of the people.
